MY STORY
My name is Emoni McGregor. I moved from New York to Sunrise during my elementary years and attended Village Elementary School. I bounced around. However, the city of Sunrise has always felt like home.
I have been married to my husband for 4 years, and I have a beautiful daughter who is 3 years old.
Advocacy has always been a large part of my life. I donated items to mothers who were in the maternity ward at hospitals. I would also, with the help of a friend, donate shoes to children who needed them. I worked as a manager at Hurley in the Sawgrass Mall for years.
I graduated with my Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from Florida International University in December of 2025.
Currently, I am working as a high school science teacher and helping the 12th grade sudents earn scholarships and acceptances into the schools of their choice.

Yakira Cousley
Yakira has been living in Sunrise since she was born. She holds her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. She is currently working as a teacher while supporting Emoni's campaign.
Campaign Events & Community Engagement Director
Alexis Deñó
Alexis is a community advocate, event producer, and family resource professional with more than a decade of experience supporting families and building community connections throughout South Florida. Her background includes nonprofit leadership, community outreach, family resource coordination, and event management.
Currently pursuing her Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in Sociology, Alexis plans to continue her studies in Human Services and Psychology. She is passionate about connecting individuals and families to resources, opportunities, and support systems that strengthen communities.
