THE STORY OF
EMONI MCGREGOR, PH.D.

Emoni was born in New York, to a strong, independent Jamaican mother, but has been calling Sunrise her home for over 10 years. Over the years, she has taken on the roles of a mother, wife, daughter, and sister, and she cannot imagine living in a city other than Sunrise.

Education has always played an important role in her life. In December 2025, she earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Biology at Florida International University. While pursuing her education, she worked as a teacher, helping students earn scholarships and gain admission to the schools of their choice.

She has a strong passion for public service. Her personal experiences with motherhood inspired her to donate many necessities to mothers in the maternity ward throughout the years.

With fresh ideas and determination, she is prepared to serve as Commissioner.
